WHITE HAT VOLUNTEERS

White Hatters

The Calgary International Airport (YYC) White Hat Volunteers are a true testament to Calgary's warm western hospitality and spirit of volunteerism. Their enthusiasm, dedication, genuine care, and desire to go the extra mile, make YYC one of the friendliest airports in the world!

On July 1st, 1991, the White Hat Volunteers made their first appearance on the arrivals level at the Calgary International Airport. There were 49 volunteers in total, dressed proudly in white Stetsons and red vests, ready to greet arriving passengers with a hearty hello!

Today the airport boasts over 200 White Hat Volunteers! Like the original 49, they are eager to provide a memorable airport experience. In addition to their traditional role as White Hat greeters, they also perform the world-famous White Hat Ceremony – the official welcoming of visitors to Calgary, assist with welcoming conferences and conventions, shuttle visitors in the Club Cars, host in the Visitor Reception Centre, and answer questions at the four Kiosk locations and throughout the airport.
