    <description>Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good flight
CALGARY, Dec. 22, 2011 /CNW/ - WestJet today announced it will fly 52,397 guests tomorrow, setting a new single-day record for the airline. The previous record, set on June 30 heading into the Canada Day long weekend, saw 51,752 guests fly across the airline&#39;s network.
&quot;It is truly an honour for us to bring so many families and friends together at this special time of year,&quot; said Bob Cummings, WestJet&#39;s Executive Vice-President, Sales, Marketing and Guest Experience. &quot;On behalf of more than 8,500 WestJetters, we would like to wish our guests a safe and happy holiday season, and thank them for choosing to fly with us.&quot;
On average, WestJet flies approximately 40,000 guests on 425 flights per day. Because tomorrow will be the busiest travel day of the year, guests are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to their flight.
To reduce line-ups and save time, WestJet offers four convenient check-in options:

    Web check-in is available at westjet.com. Guests can check in from 24 hours to 60 minutes before scheduled departure.
    Mobile check-in allows guests to check in with a cell phone from 24 hours to 60 minutes before scheduled departure.
    Self-serve check-in kiosks are available at most Canadian and U.S. airports in WestJet&#39;s network from 24 hours to 60 minutes before scheduled departure. Select serve-serve kiosks also offer self-serve bag-tagging, allowing guests to print and attach their bag tags as part of their check-in process.
    Traditional counter check-in is available in all airports. Our friendly WestJetters are always happy to greet guests and help them on their way.

    <description>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 13, 2011
Christmas Holiday Information
December is a busy time of year for Calgary International Airport (YYC). During the holiday season, it is recommended that additional time should be allowed when travelling to and from YYC due to road conditions, weather and general congestion caused by increased vehicle traffic, as well as passenger and baggage volumes.
Here are some tips and general information to help reduce travel-related stress or delays during the holiday season.
Security Tips and Restricted Items
Passenger and baggage security screening at airports in Canada is provided by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA). For the most current information on tips to avoid delays during this important process, please go to http://www.catsa-acsta.gc.ca.
Flight Check-In
A frequent question received by The Calgary Airport Authority is &amp;ldquo;When should I arrive at the airport for my flight?&amp;rdquo;
Each airline sets its own recommended check-in time dependant on the destination. Generally, one hour should be the minimum for flights within Canada and two hours for destinations outside of Canada.
Web check-in services may be available through your airline. Web check-in allows passengers to choose seats and check-in as early as 24 hours prior to departure. Check your airline&amp;rsquo;s website for more information.
Baggage Allowances
Each airline determines its own luggage allowance policies. Luggage restrictions can include weight, number of bags permitted, number of bags to be checked without charge, as well as size and number of carry-on items permitted on-board.
Please check with your airline for information.
Parking
Travellers can park closer this holiday season in YYC&amp;rsquo;s Economy Lot. Park for as low as $9.95 per day or $39.95 per week.
YYC offers attractive parking rates in all of our lots, including $59 per week in Parkade 2 and $99 per week in Parkade 1. With so many choices, parking at YYC has never been easier.
Click here for more parking information on rates and parking lot locations.
Picking someone up at YYC over the holidays? Don&amp;rsquo;t forget about the free 30 minute parking in the short-term parking area and the Cell Phone Park and Wait lot.
The Cell Phone lot is located on the north side of Airport Road (just to the right as you enter YYC), before the parkade entrance&amp;mdash;just look for the purple and white signs! Arriving passengers will be able to collect their items, call their ride waiting in the Cell Phone lot and meet them at the designated area on the Arrivals level. Fast, easy and free!
Other ground transportation options include taxis, sedans, the YYC airport shuttle or Calgary Transit. Associated Cab and Allied Limousine are YYC&amp;rsquo;s on-demand taxi and sedan ground transportation services available on the Arrivals level 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Click here for more information on these great transportation options.
Winter Coat Storage
Leaving the cold winter weather and going somewhere warm for Christmas? The Airport Information Centre, located on the Arrivals level, mid-terminal adjacent to baggage carousel four is great place to store your coat while you&amp;rsquo;re away! Call 403 735 1449 for information and storage rates. The Information Centre, Storage and Lost Article hours of operation are daily from 6 a.m. - 11 p.m.
Baggage Assistance
The Calgary Airport Authority offers complimentary baggage carts located throughout the terminal, the Economy Lot and Parkades.
For larger, heavier or multiple items, uniformed &amp;lsquo;red cap&amp;rsquo; Porter Services are also available. Porters are compensated by gratuities, with a cost guideline of $3&amp;nbsp;per bag;&amp;nbsp;a group reservation&amp;nbsp;with 10 or more will cost&amp;nbsp;$2 per&amp;nbsp;bag.&amp;nbsp;To pre-arrange this service for groups, call 403 291 2653.

    <description>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
Sept. 1, 2011&amp;nbsp;
ACI-NA Names Winners of 2011 Excellence in Airport Marketing and Communications Contest
Highest honor goes to Miami International Airport
WASHINGTON &amp;mdash; Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) announced that 28 airports are winners of its 2011 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest, with two airports leading the pack for the top honor. In a close contest, Miami International Airport edged out three-time winner Edmonton International Airport, and is receiving the top honor, thePeggy G. Hereford Overall Award for Excellence. While both Miami and Edmonton received four 1st place wins, in a tie-breaker, Miami was selected as the contest&amp;rsquo;s top winner due to its 2nd place award in the Special Events category.
&amp;ldquo;ACI-NA congratulates the winners of the 2011 Excellence in Airport Marketing and Communications Contest,&amp;rdquo; said ACI-NA President Greg Principato. &amp;ldquo;Each year, this very competitive contest allows airports to showcase their best marketing and communications efforts that serve their stakeholders, including the traveling public, airlines and other tenants, employees and the community. We continue to be amazed by these award-winning entries.&amp;rdquo;
This year, 44 airports and airport authorities submitted 175 entries in the contest, which encompasses categories that recognize work in marketing and public relations, and provides airports the opportunity to be honored for the quality of their work.&amp;nbsp; Awards are distributed in 17 categories ranging from brochures, advertising, marketing and public relations campaigns, newsletters, special events, video and film productions, to social media campaigns and websites. Again this year, communications and marketing professionals from the U.S. and Canada served as judges to review contest entries remotely, by way of web access.
The Peggy G. Hereford award is widely recognized throughout the airport industry as the highest honor an airport can earn in the marketing and communications field.&amp;nbsp; The award recognizes creativity in communicating the airport&amp;rsquo;s message, effectiveness in connecting with audiences, and the overall scope of the airport&amp;rsquo;s effort in marketing and public relations.&amp;nbsp; The award&amp;rsquo;s goal is to spotlight the commitment and dedication of the winning airport&amp;rsquo;s accomplishments in marketing and communications.&amp;nbsp;
Hereford, a founding member of the ACI-NA Marketing and Communications Committee, sought to capture the energy of aviation and unleash it to the world. She served as the Public Affairs Director at Los Angeles International, and elevated the profession of public relations in the aviation field to new heights.
The Peggy G. Hereford award winner, Miami International Airport, placed in five categories:
1st Place: &amp;nbsp;Brochures
1st Place: &amp;nbsp;Customer Service Initiatives
1st Place: &amp;nbsp;Partnering with Carriers
1st Place: &amp;nbsp;Public Relations Campaigns
2nd Place: Special Events
&quot;We are honored to be this year&#39;s recipient of the Peggy G. Hereford Award and to be recognized by industry experts across the nation for our marketing and communications efforts,&quot; said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Jose Abreu.&quot; We know we join a prestigious group of past winners, and that makes this special recognition even more rewarding.&quot;
Since its inception in 1990, the contest has generated tremendous interest throughout the industry.&amp;nbsp; Award winners will be recognized at the ACI-NA 20th Annual Conference &amp;amp; Exhibition&amp;nbsp;in San Diego with a special presentation to Miami on Oct. 19 during the Chairman&amp;rsquo;s Honors Luncheon.

            August 31, 2011

            OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 31, 2011) - This Labour Day long weekend, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) reminds travellers of document requirements to cross the border. The Agency wants to educate travellers about these requirements to make their travel experience a more enjoyable one.
            The CBSA reminds travellers:
            - Canadian entry requirements have not changed as a result of the U.S. Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.
            - Canadians returning home (including children) are encouraged to carry proper identification to assist in confirming their legal right to enter Canada. A passport is not mandatory for entry into Canada, but it is a preferable piece of identification. Other acceptable identification includes an enhanced driver&#39;s license, a birth certificate with accompanying photo ID such as a regular driver&#39;s license, a permanent residence card, a citizenship card, a certificate of Indian Status or a NEXUS card or Free and Secure Trade (FAST) card when travelling by land or boat.
            - U.S. citizens do not need to carry a passport to enter Canada; however, they should carry proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate) as well as photo identification.
            Travelling by air?
            - Prior to arriving in Canada by air, all travellers are provided with a Declaration form (Form E311). Be sure to fill it out accurately and keep it in an accessible place until a border services officer asks you for it as you exit the secure area of the airport.
            Travelling by boat?
            - The CBSA has modernized its reporting requirements for pleasure crafts entering Canadian waters, in an effort to make it easier for private boaters to comply with reporting requirements. For information on cell phone reporting for private boaters, visit the CBSA Web site.
            - NEXUS members can provide advance notice to the CBSA at least 30 minutes (minimum) and up to four hours (maximum) prior to arriving in Canada by calling the NEXUS telephone reporting centre (TRC) at 1-866-99-NEXUS (1-866-996-3987).
            Other useful information:
            - Visitors to Canada should be aware of the requirements to import a firearm into Canada. Many weapons are considered prohibited and are therefore not allowed into Canada. All travellers must declare any firearms and weapons in their possession when they are seeking entry to Canada. Anyone who does not declare them upon arrival can face prosecution, and the firearms and the vehicle used to carry them may be seized.
            - Visit the CBSA Web site for more information, including entry requirements into Canada for non-Canadians, and to download a copy of I Declare, a detailed publication describing what to expect when bringing goods into Canada.
            Canadians returning home and visitors to Canada are reminded that they can plan their border crossing to avoid peak times, and that they should check Canada-bound border wait times on the CBSA Web site and on Twitter.

    <description>For Immediate Release
YYC RANKED BEST CANADIAN CARGO AIRPORT AND RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS 2011 AIR CARGO WORLD AWARD
Calgary, AB (July 28, 2011) - The Calgary Airport Authority is pleased to announce that Calgary International Airport (YYC) has received the Air Cargo World Award of Excellence for airports in the 100,000 to 199,999 cargo tonnage category, ranking the airport the highest among all other Canadian Airports. This prestigious award is determined by the annual Air Cargo Excellence Survey in which airline customers are given the opportunity to rate airports based on key measurement performance areas. These key areas of measurement include performance, value, facilities and operations.
YYC ranked second in North America in its airport size category and best overall in Canada, scoring above average in the survey with an overall rating of 115, well above the average benchmark of 100. This superior rating solidifies YYC as a leader in Canada and in the Global Logistics industry and reflects YYC&amp;rsquo;s commitment to excellence in cargo services since 2000.
&amp;ldquo;Over the past decade, YYC has established itself as a major transportation and logistics hub in North America, offering the industry an unparallel integrated logistics platform connecting Western Canada to the world,&amp;rdquo; said Stephan Poirier, Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for The Calgary Airport Authority. &amp;ldquo;This award is especially meaningful as it directly reflects the sentiment of service providers and users across the industry.&amp;rdquo;
YYC saw an increase in cargo activity of 8.1 per cent in 2010 and the dedicated cargo aprons continued to be a hub of activity for cargo from around the globe. With the recent opening of UPS&amp;rsquo;s state-of-the-art 145,000-square-foot air/ground distribution facility at the YYC Global Logistics Park and numerous other cargo and logistics companies basing out of YYC, Calgary&amp;rsquo;s airport has quickly become an important strategic location for cargo activity. Since 2003, 1.8 million-square-feet has been developed into new distribution and logistics centres for YYC&amp;rsquo;s many partners, providing the best access to regional, national and international markets for businesses to grow.
As YYC is a major economic engine for the city and the region, The Calgary Airport Authority will continue to develop its airport and cargo facilities. The Authority recently began construction on the largest expansion project in the Airport&amp;rsquo;s history, the Airport Development Program (ADP), which will include the construction of a new Runway and International Concourse. The program includes new and innovative cargo facilities that will link all modes of cargo transportation into Calgary and its strong economic activity. As YYC grows and develops, the City of Calgary and Province of Alberta will continue to grow and prosper, leading Canada&amp;rsquo;s economic recovery.
The Calgary Airport Authority is a not-for-profit, non-share capital corporation incorporated under the Alberta Regional Airports Authorities Act. Since 1992, it has been responsible for the management, maintenance and development of Calgary International Airport and Springbank Airport under long-term lease from the Government of Canada.

The Calgary Airport Authority celebrates its newest trade development&amp;nbsp;
Calgary, AB (July 5, 2011) &amp;ndash; The Calgary Airport Authority hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for Phase 2 of the Airport&amp;rsquo;s YYC Global Logistics Parks today, at Calgary International Airport (YYC).&amp;nbsp; The ceremony celebrated the newest addition to YYC, which will connect commercial, airside and logistics businesses at Canada&amp;rsquo;s leading integrated, multimodal business parks.
With easy access from Deerfoot Trail, and a direct link from Airport Trail NE, the park will be the Authority&amp;rsquo;s newest trade development, occupying over 330 acres of land. The property will offer businesses a unique location and the strategic advantage of connecting commercial, airside and logistics businesses, all in one location. The site will be a business centre for cargo handling, general aviation, operational support, and commercial activity.
&amp;nbsp;&amp;ldquo;We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the second phase of the Global Logistics Parks,&amp;rdquo; said Stephan Poirier, Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer with The Calgary Airport Authority. &amp;ldquo;In 2001, we developed and implemented our long-term plans for growing cargo and logistics in Calgary. Since then, YYC has developed 1.8 million square feet of warehouse space, dedicated to the movement of cargo and logistics activities. It&amp;rsquo;s truly a success story for the airport and the City&amp;rsquo;s economy. Over the years the Authority&amp;rsquo;s business plans have provided a great platform that has enabled Calgary businesses and stakeholders to compete globally.&amp;rdquo;
The Authority has also renewed their commitment in creating eco-friendly developments by implementing sustainable design components in the overall roads, utilities, recreation and storm water plan including: bio-swales, rain gardens, and engineered wetlands to encourage and support tenant development initiatives.
Calgary International Airport (YYC) is Alberta&amp;rsquo;s premier international passenger and cargo gateway. Creating over $6 billion in economic activity, the Authority will invest approximately $2.4 billion over the next 10 years into YYC, in order to service the airport&amp;rsquo;s growing needs. The newest addition to the Global Logistics Parks will position YYC as an important strategic passenger, cargo, and business leader that plays a key role in keeping Calgary&amp;rsquo;s and Alberta&amp;rsquo;s economies moving forward.

    <title>City, Airport Authority Finalize Agreement</title>
    <link>http://www.calgaryairport.com/News/tabid/91/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/55/language/en-US/City-Airport-Authority-Finalize-Agreement.aspx</link>
    <description>For immediate release
June 17, 2011 &amp;nbsp;
CALGARY - The City of Calgary and the Calgary Airport Authority (YYC) have finalized a lease agreement that will see work start on the Airport Trail tunnel by the end of the month.
The City and the Authority signed the agreement Thursday, June 16. The agreement sets out the terms and conditions for The City to integrate the tunnel project into the Airport Development Program in order to extend Airport Trail from Barlow Trail to 36 Street NE under the new airport runway and provide an east-west connector and future LRT right of way for commuters and travelers.
&amp;ldquo;I am very pleased that we have concluded the legal agreement on this piece of important infrastructure,&amp;rdquo; said Mayor Nenshi. &amp;ldquo;This project preserves a critical road and transit corridor for all Calgarians.&amp;rdquo;
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;rdquo;We are pleased that we have an agreement in place with The City that will allow for the completion of their tunnel project in conjunction with the Airport Development Program (ADP) at YYC. The APD will allow for the continued economic growth and prosperity of our airport community business partners, the City of Calgary and Province of Alberta,&amp;rdquo; said Garth Atkinson, President and CEO of The Calgary Airport Authority. &amp;ldquo;We are excited to move forward with The City as we continue to develop the airport to meet the needs of our stakeholders and as they develop their transportation network to meet the needs of Calgarians.&amp;rdquo;
The Airport Trail tunnel project will be constructed in three stages with the cost of stage one already approved by Council. Stage one consists of:

    construction of the tunnel under the new runway;
    widening Airport Trail between Deerfoot Trail and Barlow Trail to six lanes; and
    extending Airport Trail through the tunnel to 36th Street NE

The estimated cost of stage one is $280 million which is within the $294.8 million funding envelope approved by Council in February. The Airport Authority will contribute approximately 60 acres of land, valued at an estimated $50 million, for the Airport Trail extension and future interchanges, at no cost to the City of Calgary.
The additional stages of the project will be addressed as funding sources are identified and secured and subject to Council approval of the necessary budgets.

    &amp;nbsp;Stage 2 will include the construction of interchanges along Airport Trail at Barlow Trail and 19 Street NE and include extending Airport Trail to Metis Trail. The City will contribute $50 million and YYC will contribute $20 million to the cost of the stage two interchanges.
    &amp;nbsp;Stage 3 will have The City and YYC share the cost on the construction of upgraded interchanges to provide access and egress from Airport Trail to the airport when warranted by traffic levels.

These upgrades are not anticipated to be required for another 20 - 30 years. This is an additional cost to The City of an estimated $66 million in 2011 dollars and will be shared 50/50 by The City and YYC.
The tunnel is an essential part of the northeast road network and another good connection to the airport and the rest of the city that will move people, goods and services, locally, regionally, and globally.
As well, the tunnel is the most viable way to provide future LRT to the airport terminal from the northeast LRT line.
The City and the Authority had been in discussions for several months to reach an agreement on the construction of the tunnel on land YYC leases from the federal government.
Visuals of the northeast area transportation network are available on The City of Calgary&amp;rsquo;s website.
Construction of the tunnel will start in the next few weeks and be open to traffic in conjunction with completion of the new runway in 2014.

    <description>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 8, 2011
Calgary, AB &amp;ndash; Calgary International Airport (YYC) celebrated the 20-year anniversary of the White Hat Volunteer program today. Representatives of The Calgary Airport Authority, members of City Council and YYC airport partners joined together to celebrate this significant milestone and to thank the volunteers for their many years of service to the airport community.
The White Hat Volunteer program began in 1991 with 49 individuals, dressed in the now famous white Stetson and red vest. Over the last 20 years, this program has grown significantly, boasting over 240 volunteers who greet and offer a warm western welcome to the millions of passengers who travel through Calgary every year.
&amp;ldquo;YYC&amp;rsquo;s White Hat Volunteers are a testament of Calgary&amp;rsquo;s spirit of volunteerism and truly embody the meaning of western hospitality,&amp;rdquo; said Stephan Poirier, Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for The Calgary Airport Authority. &amp;ldquo;Our volunteers are an important part of the passenger experience and we are extremely grateful for their hard work and dedication in making YYC one of the best airports in the world.&amp;rdquo;
Since 1991, hundreds of White Hat Volunteers have served the airport community by greeting passengers, welcoming conferences and conventions, escorting dignitaries and VIP&amp;rsquo;s, and shuttling passengers needing assistance in the YYC Club Cars. Together these individuals have contributed over 700,000 volunteer hours and have performed more than 2,500 White Hat Welcome Ceremonies with over 8,000 participants. They help and personally interact with more than 1 million passengers per year.
&amp;ldquo;The service they provide is invaluable, and they continually go above and beyond to serve the travelling public. We look forward to seeing the program continue to grow over the next several years, with many more milestones in our future,&amp;rdquo; said Poirier.

    <description>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 2, 2011

&amp;nbsp;
Calgary, AB &amp;ndash; Calgary International Airport (YYC) continued to grow with increases to both passenger numbers and cargo volumes in 2010. YYC also celebrated Alberta&amp;rsquo;s only scheduled flight to Asia, new services and numerous increased frequencies connecting the city and province to the world.
&amp;nbsp;
YYC welcomed over 12.6 million passengers in 2010, an increase in overall passenger volumes of 3.7 per cent over 2009 and a new all time high. In addition to increases in domestic and U.S. travel, international traffic saw the largest increase at 12.9 per cent, thanks to the wide variety of international destinations and airlines serving Calgary International Airport. Air Canada introduced Alberta&amp;rsquo;s only non-stop scheduled service to Asia with the commencement of its Calgary-Tokyo flight and service to Hawaii. WestJet Airlines also introduced new services to Honolulu and Maui, along with increased frequencies to a number of North American and sun destinations. YYC also welcomed Korean Air&amp;rsquo;s non-stop seasonal service to Seoul, adding yet another direct non-stop service to Asia and American Eagle also launched a new service to Chicago.
&amp;nbsp;
YYC&amp;rsquo;s cargo facilities were also a hub of activity with an increase of 8.1 per cent in cargo tonnage. In February 2010, UPS opened a new state-of-the-art distribution facility at the YYC Global Logistics Park. The 145,000-square-foot facility was built to meet the increase in UPS business activities and with Calgary&amp;rsquo;s strategic location, YYC provided the best access to regional, national and international markets for UPS to grow.
&amp;nbsp;
The Calgary Airport Authority&amp;rsquo;s emergency plans were put to the test in 2010 with Operation Soteria, an emergency response training exercise. The Authority partnered with emergency response agencies and major airline sponsor WestJet Airlines, to simulate the crash of an aircraft at Calgary International Airport, putting into practice well-established plans and procedures for responding to airport emergencies.
&amp;nbsp;
A number of new valued-added services and initiatives were announced in 2010.The Authority reduced weekly parking rates in both Parkades and the Economy Lot, giving travellers more options to &amp;lsquo;Park Closer&amp;rsquo; at YYC. A new medical clinic and pharmacy opened at YYC and improvements were made to Canada Customs and passenger check-in areas. Calgary International Airport proved to be a leader in customer service in 2010, receiving its highest annual ranking in the Airports Council International Airport Service Quality Survey, firmly establishing YYC as one of the top airports in the world.
&amp;nbsp;
YYC continues to be a major economic engine for the city and the region, and continues to experience growth in both passenger and cargo volumes. The Calgary Airport Authority has embarked on its largest expansion to date with its Airport Development Program (ADP), which will include the construction of a new Runway and International Concourse. The 14,000 foot runway will be the longest in Canada and the new International Facility will nearly double the size of the current Air Terminal Building. This $2 billion expansion will contribute over 10.5 million hours of employment and will add significantly to the $6 billion GDP contribution that YYC currently makes to the local economy. As YYC grows and develops, the City of Calgary and Province of Alberta will continue to grow and prosper, leading Canada&amp;rsquo;s economic recovery. Watch for more exciting announcements and events in 2011.

February 8, 2011

Following last night&amp;rsquo;s Council vote, The Calgary Airport Authority will be undertaking discussions with the City about the integration of an Airport Trail tunnel into our Runway Development Project.
A number of complicated and critical items still need to be addressed with regard to the tunnel, and we are hopeful we will be able to come to a satisfactory agreement with the City on those items.
Construction of the new runway at Calgary International Airport is required to meet current and future air travel and cargo demand. The Calgary Airport Authority is committed to having the new runway in service as quickly as possible while working with the City to try to accommodate integration of the Airport Trail tunnel.

    <title>Air Canada Increases Calgary-Tokyo Non-Stop Flights; Plans Year-Round Service in Response to Strong Demand </title>
    <link>http://www.calgaryairport.com/News/tabid/91/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/68/language/en-US/Air-Canada-Increases-Calgary-Tokyo-Non-Stop-Flights-Plans-Year-Round-Service-in-Response-to-Strong-Demand.aspx</link>
    <description> CALGARY, January 26, 2011 &amp;ndash; Air Canada today announced that it is boosting its Calgary-Tokyo non-stop flights in response to strong demand after introducing the new route last summer.&amp;nbsp; Air Canada will increase its existing schedule to five weekly flights from three effective March 26, 2011, as it takes steps towards continuing the non-stop service on a year-round basis, subject to obtaining the necessary approvals in Japan.
&amp;ldquo;Demand for Air Canada&amp;rsquo;s non-stop Calgary-Tokyo Narita service has been strong from business and leisure travelers, as well as freight forwarders.&amp;nbsp; We are very pleased after just one season operating the only scheduled direct service between Alberta and Asia to be able to increase flights on this route,&amp;rdquo; said Ben Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.&amp;nbsp; &amp;ldquo;Service to Narita offers a multitude of connecting flights with our Star Alliance partners to key destinations throughout Asia including Hong Kong, Manila, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Bangkok, Taipei and several points across Japan.&amp;nbsp; This is a good example of how we can work well with the business and tourism communities to achieve success in some markets.&amp;nbsp; With the support of the Calgary business community, the Calgary Airport Authority, Travel Alberta and our travel partners, we look forward to being able to maintain a year-round schedule, pending approvals in Japan.&amp;rdquo;
As a result of lower than expected demand for planned Vancouver-Tokyo Haneda non-stop flights offering point-to-point service between the two cities, the launch of that route will now be delayed until more convenient arrival and departure times can be obtained that would enable customers to connect to flights at Haneda for onward travel to points within Japan and throughout Asia.
Calgary-Narita non-stop service complements Air Canada&amp;rsquo;s daily year-round Vancouver-Tokyo Narita and Toronto-Tokyo Narita non-stop flights, both operated with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; This summer, the carrier will offer 19 flights each week from Canada to Tokyo&amp;rsquo;s Narita International Airport.
In addition to offering efficient connections at Narita to points throughout Asia with Air Canada&amp;rsquo;s Star Alliance partners, ANA, Asiana, THAI and United Airlines, Air Canada&amp;rsquo;s Narita flights from both Calgary and Vancouver are timed to offer convenient connections to and from communities across Western Canada served by Air Canada.

Air Canada&amp;rsquo;s increased scheduled of Calgary-Tokyo flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, departing Calgary at 12:45 p.m. and arriving in Narita the following day at 2:25 p.m.&amp;nbsp; Flights will depart Narita on Monday&amp;rsquo;s, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 4:00 p.m., arriving Calgary same day at 10:40 a.m.
Air Canada operates its Calgary-Tokyo flights with fully refurbished 211-seat Boeing 767-300ER aircraft offering a choice of Economy Class and Executive First service featuring 24 lie-flat bed suites.&amp;nbsp; Further details and a virtual tour of Air Canada&amp;rsquo;s new cabin amenities including complimentary personal seatback entertainment at every seat throughout the aircraft are available at:&amp;nbsp; http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelinfo/onboard/cabincomfort.html
Air Canada received top honours in Business Traveler magazine&amp;rsquo;s Best in Business Travel 2010 annual reader survey, winning five awards: Best Flight Attendants in North America, Best In-flight Services in North America, Best North America Airline for Business Class Service, Best North American Airline for International Travel, and Best Airline Web Site. Readers of Global Travel magazine voted Air Canada Best Airline in North America, for the sixth consecutive year in their 2010 reader survey. Air Canada was&amp;nbsp;named Best Airline North America in a worldwide survey of more than 17 million air travelers&amp;nbsp;conducted by&amp;nbsp;independent research firm Skytrax for its 2010 World Airline Awards. Air Canada&amp;nbsp;was named Canada&amp;rsquo;s Preferred Airline by frequent business travellers in the 2010 Ipsos Reid&amp;nbsp;Business Traveller Survey.
Air Canada is Canada&amp;rsquo;s largest domestic and international full-service airline providing scheduled and charter air transportation for passengers and cargo from 60 communities large and small across Canada to more than 175 destinations on five continents.&amp;nbsp; Canada&#39;s flag carrier is the 15th largest commercial airline in the world and serves 31 million customers annually.&amp;nbsp; Air Canada is a founding member of Star Alliance, the world&#39;s most comprehensive air transportation network serving 1,172 airports in&amp;nbsp;181 countries.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Air Canada customers can collect Aeroplan miles for future rewards through Canada&amp;rsquo;s leading loyalty program, and Top Tier members enjoy reciprocal frequent flyer benefits including lounge and priority services.
