    <description>

CALGARY, July 17, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) today announced a pilot project that
allows some passengers to leave their laptops in their carry-on bag during the screening process.

The pilot started June 19 at the Trusted Traveller CATSA/Nexus Security Line at the Calgary International Airport (Concourse &quot;A&quot;).

&quot;CATSA is always looking at ways to improve the passenger experience while maintaining the highest level of security,&quot; said Yves
Duguay, CATSA&#39;s Senior Vice-President, Operations and Customer Experience. &quot;This pilot project could lead to shorter wait times
and enhanced convenience for air travellers.&quot;

Preparation in advance of screening promotes lower wait time, faster screening and increased passenger satisfaction. Allowing
passengers to leave their laptops in carry-on bags has the potential to achieve improvements in all of these areas.

For more information, please visit www.catsa.gc.ca or

CATSA, established in 2002, is a Crown corporation responsible for:

    Pre-board screening - the screening of passengers, their carry-on baggage and their personal belongings;
    Hold-baggage screening - the screening of checked baggage;
    Non-passenger screening - the screening of non-passengers on a random basis; and
    Restricted Area Identity Card - the administration of access control to airport restricted areas through biometric identifiers.
